It does act “clean” but it a bug or a fly to enter that “clean” environment then it dies as there is nothing in there to support life. The problem also is that some bugs do not fly well in the fumes of penicillin… Rgs, Romy...
I have to admit that I am not a huge fun of TAD drivers. They have a good bacterially clean sound but truly nothing really special. Rgs, Romy the Cat
If everything in a recording / playback chain was clean in the sen...
you should have said hello Oliver.
I didn´t dare after my uncontrolled rage about the (in my ears) tonally messy performance last year :)What I meant with electricity is that these REALLY good drivers in fact could be sensi...

I had my visit in Munich yesterday and the Cessaro´s performance was totally different. Tonally without any compromize, so it was a pleasure to stay in the room this time :) Unfortunately very much on the muddy side. I think I start to understan...

You can get Lowthers reconed with FS (AER plagiate) diaphragms, more moderate, but no longer a Lowther....

There has been a report at a German forum today, saying they are more detailed than Lowther, but also shouty....

Romy,I think that kind of sound was intended and could have easily been changed by using different electronics. However, I apologize for throwing such an unreflected opinon into this forum and of course will listen to the Cessaro more carefully next ...
And you listened to these for two seconds too?
and so I didn´t take a seat in these rooms, too....

To explain what I mean when I say "cold and sterile" it may help you when I tell you what other systems I perceived that way (assumed you have listened to them): One was the KEF system in the ground floor with Mark Levinson electronics (that was not ...
|
Coops, there were more than a hundred rooms at that show (including the cabins of the small manufacturers in the ground floor) and I had no other chance than giving many of them just seconds, so I only stayed longer when I liked the sound after these ...

Oh my god!I just saw a report about the last Highend and realized Cessaro was already present, that was the room I entered because of my interest in the KR monster triodes, but ran out after two seconds. Cold, sterile, and not 100% fre...

Sorry for being so nasty, Romy, but I meant connecting the CEC TLO with the Lavry 924 via the dCS 974....

I mean the 974 in combination with the Lavry.http://www.midi-classics.com/h/h31969.htmPrice is not nice, however....

Pacific Microsonics are filter kings, but if the Lavry is the best hardware, wouldn´t it be nice to let it play the CDs, too? Ever tried a dCS converter?...

Romy, did you ever play Wavelab-converted CDs via the Lavry?...

Good that I am on this side of the pond. Finally a chance to compare Martion and Cessaro in Munich in a month. Avantgarde are usually present in several rooms, but fortunately nobody is forced to enter....

Hello Romy!My predictions are:The mainstream manufacturers will continue as they have been doing for decades: Use steep x-overs that allow them to use more and more exotic cone materials without changing anything effectively. Strange-looking con...

The frequency range of telephones is 300-3000 Hz and this could give you an impression on how good your amp is in the midrange. But that determines your further plans. Would be OK if you plan to use a 6.5" cone driver in your system anyway....
The first really sophisticated reverb (in 1983) was the Quantec QRS which was some kind of acoustic raytracer (no single microprocessor is powerful enough to emulate it so far) and so profited in centuries-old experience in desig...

el`Ol,
in your proposal of “arbitrary speed deviations” what would be a criterion for the “arbitration”. I wonder what algorithm your DSP would execute in order to detect that the “speed irregularities of tape recorders ...

The ultimate turntable would have a very light platter that allows a teflon bearing without too much wear off and a DSP-controlled piezo motor that can introduce arbitrary speed deviations to overlay the speed irregularities of tape recorders and cut...
